Fireworks to music for local venues
Most of the pyromusicals we fire are within a short drive of home: country-house and hotel weddings along the Thames corridor, school and club Bonfire Night shows in the Chilterns and the Vale, corporate events at conference venues around Reading and Oxford, and private celebrations on estates and farms across the three counties. Knowing the venues matters for a musical show more than for a standard display, because the sound system, the firing distances and the sightlines all shape the choreography. We have fired at many of these sites before, and where we have not, we survey in person before designing a note of the show.
We won the Firework Champions pyromusical competition at Eastnor Castle, the contest where the UK's leading professional display teams go head-to-head, and we bring the same design approach to a village-hall anniversary as to a championship show. The difference is scale and budget, not care.
How a local pyromusical booking works
You tell us the venue, the date and the kind of music you have in mind. We check the site (in person for anywhere in Berkshire, Bucks or Oxfordshire, and for most of Surrey, Hampshire and Hertfordshire), agree the soundtrack with you, and design the show around it. On the day we bring the firing system and, if the venue needs it, a professional sound system, so the music is heard cleanly wherever your guests are standing. Everything from the risk assessment to the venue paperwork is ours to handle.

Do you fire pyromusical displays near me?+
If you are in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire, almost certainly: our bases in Marlow and Sonning put the whole of those counties within easy reach for a site visit and a show. We also fire regularly across Surrey, Hampshire, Hertfordshire and into London. Tell us the venue and we will confirm straight away.
Does the venue need its own sound system for fireworks to music?+
No. Some venues have a suitable outdoor PA and some do not, so we bring our own professional sound system whenever it is needed and position it so the music reaches your guests cleanly without drowning the venue. We check this at the site survey, so it is never a surprise on the day.
How much does a pyromusical fireworks display cost?+
A choreographed musical show costs more than a standard display of the same size, because of the design time and the sound equipment, and the range is wide depending on duration and scale. What is a pyromusical?+
A pyromusical is a firework display choreographed to music. Rather than music simply playing in the background, the show is designed around the soundtrack, and every firework is fired by computer in precise time with the track, so bursts land on the beat and the finale builds with the music. Sonning Fireworks has been designing pyromusical displays since 1999.
How much space is needed?+
The absolute minimum distance we require is 50m from spectators, roads, car parks and public byways. This distance increases with the size of the show as we start using larger fireworks. We complete a full risk assessment to ensure only the appropriate fireworks are used for the distance available.
What's the benefit of computer-fired fireworks?+
All our shows are fired by computer and use the full width available onsite, so rather than the traditional single firing location we fire from three or more locations. This means we use the same number of fireworks but fire them in multiples rather than one at a time, making the show far more impressive. This is only possible because we fire 100% of our shows using our computer firing system.
Are firework displays affected by the weather?+
In most circumstances no, however wind direction is critical. A strong wind blowing away from the crowd toward a suitable fallout area is acceptable; a wind blowing toward the crowd can be unacceptable.
Do you clear up afterwards?+
Yes. We endeavour to clear up as much as possible, though there may be a few small bits of cardboard left which soon disappear when the site is mowed. Venues come back to us as their preferred supplier again and again because we respect their venue and their rules.
Can the firework display be a surprise?+
Most of the time we can set up a display without your guests knowing, however with some sites and some sizes of display this is not always possible.
Can we start the firework display ourselves?+
Most certainly. We have a wireless firing system that the bride and groom (or host) can use to start the display safely from back with the crowd.

How long does a wedding fireworks display last?+
Most wedding fireworks displays last between 4 and 8 minutes, depending on your budget and style. We recommend a high-impact display that leaves a big impression without dragging on. For larger budgets and Bonfire Night shows, displays can last 15 to 25 minutes.
